Costume Info

Costume Hire, Hair and Make Up

Costumes

Costumes are arguably the best part of the dance year!!  In an effort to make costumes more affordable for our families, I have implemented a Costume Hire scheme for our Ready Set Dance concerts. Our Staff we will take care of transporting and organising all of the costumes for our students, leaving less for you to organise! I will upload a picture of your child’s costume to the Parent Portal so you can have a sneak peek! (Look at “Costumes” in the Parent Portal).

There are some Concert Essentials that you will need to bring with you on Photo Day and Concert Day. Check out the list below. Your Concert Essentials are available to purchase at the studio.  As these items are in high demand at this time of the year, please order early to allow time for shipping. Please note that Shoes and Tights are not included in your costume hire fee. 

All students have been measured and sized for costumes.

Concert Essentials List

- Ready Set Dance: Girls require tan jazz shoes, tan tap shoes, tan tights and a Ready Set Dance Hair Accessory. Boys require black jazz shoes, black tap shoes with laces and black socks.

- Ready Set Ballet: Girls require pink ballet shoes and tan tights. Boys require black ballet shoes and black socks.

If wearing underwear it must be skin-coloured and must not be visible beneath your child’s costume. It is recommended that all students have spare tights in their concert bag.

Makeup

Ready Set Dance and Ready Set Ballet students are not required to wear makeup for the show.

Hair

Ready Set Dance: Hair will be in high pigtails. Hair must be neatly slicked with gel and hairspray (no flyaway bits please).

Boys: We require the boys to have their hair neatly styled with gel and hairspray.

Concert Levy

The introduction of the Costume Levy this year, is a new initiative aimed at keeping costs manageable while still providing exceptional services. This levy ($80) will be charged on the December statement of all students participating in the concert.

Concert Levy Inclusions:

  • A souvenir concert t-shirt

  • Your Media Pack which includes;

    • Your child’s Group and Individual photos taken on Photo Day

    • All stage photos taken of your child’s routines on Concert Day

    • End Of Year Concert video (All video and photo files will be sent via email with download links)

  • Helping with staffing costs for Photo and Concert Days

Note that all fees must be up to date for your child to participate in the End Of Year Concert. Please contact the office asap if you need to discuss outstanding balances.

 

Ready Set Dance Photo Day

24th November 2024

We look forward to taking snaps of our dancers to create some wonderful keepsakes. These photos will be part of your Media Package (see Concert Levy tab for full details).  Photo day will take place at the Berrinba studio (2/18 Prospect Place Berrinba) on 24th November 2024 and will involve all of our hardworking dancers. Performers will be photographed in full costume with hair done just as they would have for the show.  Each child will have an Individual photo and a Group photo taken in their costume and their Ready Set Dance uniform.  Please refer to the Photo Day Timetable for your child’s scheduled time. There is a link below to the timetable.

Just like normal dance days, students will be dropped off at the front of the studio and parents will collect their child a the end of their photo session. A select group of teachers and helpers will be on hand to help the students change their costumes. Please see the following guidelines:

Before Photo Day

- Ensure you have all of the following essential items;

  • A nice clean Ready Set Dance Uniform

  • Dance Shoes (Ready Set Dance - Jazz and Tap Shoes / Ready Set Ballet - Ballet Shoes)

  • A Ready Set Dance Hair Accessory - Girls

  • Tan Tights - Girls (Getting a pair and a spare is a good idea!)

  • Black Dance Socks - Boys

These items are available for purchase at the office. Please name everything clearly.

On Photo Day

- Please arrive at the studio with your child’s hair done and tights on and all of their shoes in a bag.

- Our teachers and helpers will take the students in to set up.

- Students will be brought back out by our teachers and helpers once they are finished.

Pre-Show Rehearsals

We have been practicing our stage entrances and exists in class and we have our special Ready Set Dance star spacers to tell us where to stand. This means we do not need a stage rehearsal!

Should anything change an email will be sent to each class with rehearsal details.

 

Concert Tickets

All of the ticketing is handled by the Logan Entertainment Centre and will be listed under Reese Dance on their website. As we have 3 shows taking place on Concert Day, it has caused some confusion and people have purchased tickets to the wrong show in the past. Please double check that you have selected the correct show before purchasing.

Ready Set Dance Concert 1 - 9:30am Show

Ready Set Dance Concert 2 - 12:00pm Show

Reese Dance - 4:00pm Show

Tickets for our concert will go on sale to the public on Thursday 7th November 2024 at 9:30am.

Tickets are purchased from the Logan Entertainment Centre website www.loganentertainmentcentre.com.au (search the What’s On Tab) or by phone 07) 3412 5626.  The Box Office will be open at the venue on Concert Day for last minute tickets.

We have allocated seating so keep that in mind when organising tickets for the family! To ensure our dancers get to perform and show off their hard work to a full audience, in a professional venue, we have kept tickets at very reasonable price. Please see details below. We do not charge for children under 2 years old to attend the concert and they do not require a ticket. All of our dancers will remain backstage throughout the show, they do not require a ticket.

Concert Procedures

As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. We have a streamlined process for our RSD concert so that there is not so much waiting around for our youngest dancers. Our drop off and pick up procedures are outlined below.

All students will be assigned a “Colour Group” for Photo Day and Concert Day. An email will be sent to each class so that you know what colour group your child is in as well as which concert they are in. This group will be referenced in all timetables, dressing room assignments and check in areas moving forward.

Concert Day:

  • Please arrive with your child’s hair done and dressed in their Ready Set Dance Uniform, including tights, Jazz shoes.

  • One parent will bring their child to their assigned colour group check in area. The check in area is next to the LEC front entrance. Coloured balloons will be visible and our volunteers will have coloured caps so you will know where to go.

  • Our Staff will check your child in online and then you and your child will be given a coloured wristband to wear. This will help us know who checked the students in and who will be checking them out. We will also attach a photo to their bag for easy identification.

  • If your child has any medical conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in.

  • Once your child is checked in, they will give you a big cuddle and head off into their dressing room with our volunteers. To ensure their safety, students are not permitted to leave the backstage area until the concert is finished.

  • At the end of our show, the parent with the wristband will stay in their seat while the audience leaves the auditorium. Once the audience is cleared, we will bring out each colour group to be collected from side stage. You will collect your child and their belongings and exit through the auditorium doors. Miss Renee and the teaching staff will help direct you so that we get everyone on their way quickly and calmly. Our Staff will check your child out online.

I hope that all makes sense! My hope is that these procedures will make the day even more enjoyable and less stressful for you and your child!

Only Reese Dance staff and registered parent volunteers are permitted backstage. If you would like to volunteer at our Reese Dance evening concert please email info@reesedance.com.au. Volunteers receive 1 free ticket to their child’s show!

Private videography and photography is strictly prohibited as we will have professionals attending on the day to provide these services for us, leaving you free to sit back and enjoy the show in the moment! Please note that child safety laws prohibit photos to be taken inside the dressing rooms. The Logan Entertainment Centre Staff will ask you to stop and delete any files if you take video or photos.

What to bring

Now that we have our costume hire plan in place, all costumes will be taken to the venue by our Staff. This means there isn’t all that much for you to pack! Each child will just need 1 bag containing their dance shoes (Jazz, Tap and Ballet where appropriate) and a water bottle. If your child is in pull up’s etc, please pack those items also. Please label all items, including uniforms! Backstage can get very busy and things can get misplaced easily. We can’t ensure items are returned if they are not labelled. Please ensure any medication required is packed and clearly labelled with instructions and handed to a volunteer. 
 
That’s all they need!

Our streamlined concert procedures ensure our students will not be sitting around waiting backstage for long periods of time. This means they will not need things to keep them occupied and they won’t need snacks. Please do not send toys or snacks backstage with your child.
